The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certificate program focuses on the specialty of advanced practice, adult acute care nursing. Using a multi-theoretical model to examine issues relevant to acute care delivery and complex illness, the program prepares you to provide expert critical care to patients. You’ll experience online lectures, laboratory work, and clinical rotations involving care for acutely ill hospital patients. You’ll also learn skills required to work in an intensive care unit setting and undergo simulation exercises designed to train you in the diagnosis and treatment of the critically ill. While the program is online, a majority of the courses have a synchronous component.
