The Criminal Justice System

(male voice) Criminal justice was practiced in North America hundreds of years before colonists established courts of justice. Various Native American tribes carried out the rule of law with the sentencing circle. Tribal leaders, victims, and defenders all participated in the administering of justice. This practice has its influences in the modern American justice system, wherein it is called the restorative justice model. This course establishes the practical framework of the American justice system and how it must operate in a democratic form of government.
